Water features can be built to almost any size and shape. Typically we add boulders and rock to cover the liner so it will give a more natural appearance. Underwater lighting is added so you can enjoy your pond anytime of the day.

Pond Plants

Water lily leaves and flowers will float on the surface of the pond and soon become your favorite plants. Don’t forget the water hyacinth and miniature cattails, they will make your pond feel like it was there forever!

Pond Koi Fish

Fish play a very important role in a pond's eco system. Fish will consume some algae and small larva in the rocks keeping the pond cleaner. Adorn your pond with colorful Koi and goldfish, which will soon become your favorite wet pets!

Ponds & Waterfalls

Ahhh....Water.....What would we do without water? It is an essential element to all living things and one of the most dramatic additions to anyone's back yard. Ponds have been around for many years, traditionally clay or cement was added as a liner and then the area was filled with water. Nowadays, clay and cement have been replaced with rubber liner. Rubber is much more flexible and will not crack if the ground shifts. Filtration systems have come a long way too. Today they require little maintenance and have few moving parts and pumps have become more energy efficient.

Here at TimberRock, we have been building unique custom ponds and waterfalls all over the Lehigh Valley and surrounding regions, no two are ever the same. Over the last 14 years we have built a great number of ponds, some very small and others large enough to swim in. There is no limit to how large a pond can be built!

Our focus as professional pond builders is two-fold:

1. to create an ecosystem within the pond that will support healthy fish and plants without the addition of chemicals or water conditioners. This is achieved by adding rock of all sizes to the feature from boulders to pebbles so the beneficial bacteria have a great place to thrive which in turn will help keep the ecosystem in check.
   
   
2. to create a truly memorable experience each time you visit one of our ponds. With the use of large boulders and mid size rock in and around the pond area, there is a seamless transition between pond and landscape. Our goal is for you to say when we are finished " The pond and waterfall look like it was always there" .

Balancing the ecosystem with an assortment of pond plants is highly recommended. Pond plants directly and or indirectly consume the same nutrients that cause algae. So by introducing plants into the ecosystem helps keep algae out.

Evaporation can take its toll on a pond  in the hot months of the summer, so an automatic fill valve can be added to the system to help maintain the correct water level.

Pondless Water Features

Unlike traditional ponds, pondless water features don't have standing water. The "basin" that holds the water is underground so all you see is the waterfalls and stream. In this type of pond there is very little maintenance and there is no room for fish, just plants and moving water. So if you want the sound of water but don't want the trouble of a pond, a pondless water feature is right for you.

Pondless features can be run on a timer, so you can turn it on only when you want to. Evaporation can take its toll on a pondless system in the hot months of the summer, so an automatic fill valve can be added to the system to help maintain the correct water level.

Fountains

A fountain is a great way to get started in water gardening. Fountains normally are comprised of a catch basin where the water is stored and a water feature. Water features could be a simple clay urn or a rustic basalt spire. Anything is possible. A small pump moves the water to the top of the feature and it falls back into the basin.

You can make a big splash with a fountain as long as it is the right size and scale for the space.
