Mulching
Mulch is one the most effective ways to eliminate weeds in your landscaping. Typically comprised of shredded wood, mulch helps limit evaporation and keeps the plant roots cool and at the same time creating a "blanket" of protection from air borne weed seeds.
New landscape beds should be mulched 2.5-4" deep (depending on mulch type) to allow for settling. Existing beds should be re-mulched with 1-2" of fresh mulch to keep the weeds at bay.
Tree Trimming
